CARES Act

We are pleased to announce that Brown & Clermont Adult Career Campuses has been awarded funds from the United States Department of Education for the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to help students during this unprecedented time.

Brown & Clermont Adult Career Campuses are set to be allocated $6,833 from the CARES Act.

Fifty percent of these funds ($3,417) are directly available to all eligible students to cover daily living expenses as the CARES Act stipulates.  This money is distributed equally to all eligible (all Title IV eligible students attending at the time of the school closure) students to help “cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (including eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care and child care).”  Nineteen students are eligible and 19 students are receiving an equal portion of these funds.

The remaining $3,416, known as the Institutional Portion of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund under section 18004(a)(1) and 18004(c) of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, once received, will be utilized as outlined in the CARES Act; continued student relief, as well as, “costs associated with significant changes of delivery of instruction due to the coronavirus.”

Brown & Clermont Adult Career Campuses has signed and returned to the US Department of Education the Certification and Agreement along with the assurance that the institution has used, or intends to use, no less than fifty percent of the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.

Students who receive grant money with the first $3,417 have been notified by phone, email, and a letter in the mail explaining the funds.  Additional students who receive monies from the Institutional portion of the grant will be alerted in the same manner.

Questions related to the use of these funds may be directed to the Director of Adult Education, Vicki Carrington, or the Treasurer, Patricia Patten.
